Mike Weir Miracle Golf Drive for Kids tees off in Winnipeg June 7, 2010

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA – A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity comes to Winnipeg when the annual Mike Weir Miracle Golf Drive for Kids tees off June 7, 2010 at the St. Charles Country Club in support of the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba Inc.

Mike Weir spoke to key sponsors, supporters and media at the official event launch this morning via teleconference.

“I am excited to be headed to Winnipeg for the 2010 Mike Weir Miracle Golf Drive for Kids,” said Mike Weir. “In just three years this national initiative has generated approximately $2 million for children’s health care in Canada. Very few national initiatives have had this level of impact in such a brief period of time.”

The golf experience will include a golf tournament, a sponsor reception, a junior pro-am event, and a Gala Dinner.

“We are so excited to have Mike Weir Miracle Golf Drive for Kids in Winnipeg to support sick children and their families in our region,” said Andrew McPherson, Chair, Board of Directors of the Children’s Hospital Foundation. “It’s going to be a huge event for our city, and will greatly benefit child health care and research in Manitoba.”

“I know Winnipeg and the surrounding community will rally behind this event and prove there is an even greater potential to change the landscape of support for children’s health care,” said Weir. “I am proud to be able to participate in making a difference in the lives of children in Manitoba next June.”

This will be the fourth Mike Weir Miracle Golf Drive for Kids and will be a great opener to Winnipeg’s golf season. The Children’s Hospital Foundation encourages Manitobans to participate and to help support child health care in the province.
